Lesson Plan: Economics in Sustainability

The complete database of lesson plans is available. The lesson plans have the aim to provide secondary school teachers and students with suggestion of activities to address the main challenges related to environmental and sustainable development. The lesson plan "Economics in Sustainability" answer the following challange "An existing factory in your area is proposing to convert its power source from the national power supply to incinerating garbage. This will divert garbage from land fill. This factory provides jobs in the area and needs to do this to cost cut to ensure the factory is viable into the future. Should this development go ahead? What factors would you consider when making this decision? Understanding the relationship between Economics and Economic Activity in Sustainability."

Fourth Partners' Meeting

The fourth partners meeting took place in Bilbao (ES) on 21 - 22 March 2024. The following topics have been discussed:
• Validation of the lesson plans for secondary school teachers related to the integration of environmental sustainability at school
• Definition of the structure of the syllabus for the first and second year of the upper secondary school
• Clarification on the aim and procedure to organize the events to promote the Gogreen project

The lesson plan "The ecological footprint" answer the following challange "How do you promote virtuous behaviours to reduce your ecological footprint? What do you do in your daily life to give a significant contribution to envision a more sustainable future?". This lesson plan aims to highlight sustainable tourism practices in our destination. Our main focus is to promote eco-friendly tourism while showcasing what you can make the most of our town. The outcome is a promotional video showcasing the potential of tourism in our region.

Webinar on Lesson Plans for Schools to promote environmental sustainability

The GoGreen partnership participated today in a webinar to present the first lesson plans to promote environmental sustainability at School.
The lesson plans were produced by UPV and TUS on the following topics:
- What can we do in order not to increase the world temperature by 2 oC in comparison to preindustrial times?
- Would you install solar panels on the roof of your house to generate clean energy but would require a significant investment?

Ecosocial education basics workshops

The IIS Galilei will organize an hibrid workshop on 25 October at 3 p.m. entitled "Ecosocial Education Basics".
Prof. Jose Ramon Diex Lopez from the University of the Basque Country will deliver the workshop. The aim of the workshop is to provide teachers with the competencies to:
- Know and identify the main characteristics of the current eco-social crisis.
- Acquire a systemic approach to address sustainability competences in the subjects from an interdisciplinary perspective.
- Recognize the importance of education for sustainability.
- Encourage the contribution of the educational community to education for sustainability.

Interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary educational approaches and interventions are essential in the field of education for sustainability since real world problems rarely are confined to the artificial fragmentation of academic disciplines.

Problem-Based Learning, Active Learning, Active Didactic and Cooperative Learning

The fourth module of the eLearning course is available on the project website. The title of the module is Problem-Based Learning, Active Learning, Active Didactic and Cooperative Learning. Active Learning involves students directly and engages them actively in the learning process itself. Therefore, as opposed to the traditional teaching/learning system, when using active didactic methodologies and strategies students show a higher interest and motivation, and they become more involved in the teaching/learning process.

The Third module of the eLearning course is available on the project website. The title of the module is Knowledge, Systems and Strategies, Emotions, Ethics, Values, and Action for Sustainable Development. It deals with Sustainability issues that are intricate because social, economic, and ecological aspects are strongly interwoven.

Competencies for Sustainable Development are defined like the interlinked set of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values that enable effective, embodied action in the world with respect to real-world sustainability problems, challenges, and opportunities, according to the context.

Different Institutions and organisations are being contacted to join the project in order to contribute to the improvement of the project impact on their target groups and to ensure the project sustainability by continuing using the project deliverables in the next years.
The associate partners of the GoGreen project are organizations interested in sustainable development issues. All associated partners share the project objectives and are willing to contribute to their achievement.

Second Partners Meeting of the Go Green Project

The second partners' meeting of the Go Green project took place in Florence (IT).
All partners participated in the meeting and the main discussed topics were:
- Work Package 2: Presentation of the Final Version of the Table of Contents;
- Work Package 2: Presentation of 1 Learning Unit for Modules 1 and 2;
- Work Package 3 and 4: Presentation of the Objectives and Activities;
- Work Package 5: Presentation of the Dissemination Activities and Sustainability of the Project;

The GoGreen project website is available on the Internet. The project website is the main tool to guarantee the dissemination of the project information and the sustainability of the project result.
The project website is also an important support to the project management and facilitate partners' cooperation.

Go Green Kick-Off Meeting

The Go Green Kick-Off Meeting took place online on 19 December.
Lorenzo Martellini from Pixel (IT) welcomes all the project partners to the zoom platform where the meeting took place.
The European project partners introduced themselves as well as their project’s related experiences and expertise. The main activities to be carried out were presented and discussed, as well as the templates to be used.
Oihana Barrutia (UPV/EHU) and Marie Walsh (TUS) presented the draft version of the table of contents, explaining the modules they are responsible for. UPV/EHU and TUS will develop the final version of the table of contents.
